On this week’s edition of “Ithaca Now,” the WICB News Team covered safety and civil rights.

The Citizen’s Police Academy, a new program that serves to educate the public on the Ithaca Police Department, met for their fourth session. And since Ithaca’s beginning to thaw from the long winter, so we spoke with IPD and the Ithaca Fire Department about safety precautions on gorge trails.

Our correspondents also explored what causes instances of girl on girl violence and how these issues can be prevented.

A group of Ithaca College student journalists went down to Alabama over spring break to cover the 50th Anniversary of the March from Selma to Montgomery. They shared their experiences with seeing civil rights issues firsthand.

The Director of the Ithaca College London Center, Bill Sheasgreen, is retiring after nearly 20 years at the program. WICB’s Sara McCloskey and Jamie Swinnerton sat down with him to discuss his retirement plans.
